Why You Need a Building Permit in Kampala
Any construction, alteration, or extension of a building in Kampala requires a building permit from KCCA under the Physical Planning Act. Building without a permit is illegal โ KCCA can stop works, demolish unauthorised structures, and prosecute owners.

- Completed building permit application form from KCCA
- Architectural drawings โ floor plans, elevations, sections โ approved by a registered architect
- Structural drawings โ approved by a registered structural engineer
- Land title or lease agreement proving development rights
- URA tax clearance certificate for owner and developer
- Physical planning approval confirming zoning compliance
- Environmental Impact Assessment for large developments or near wetlands
