What is a TIN Number in Uganda?

A Tax Identification Number (TIN) is a unique 10-digit number issued free by URA to identify taxpayers. Required for opening a bank account, registering a company, importing goods, filing tax returns, and applying for government contracts.

How to Apply for a TIN — Individual

  1. Visit efris.ura.go.ug and click Apply for TIN
  2. Select Individual registration type
  3. Enter full name exactly as on your National ID
  4. Enter National ID number, date of birth, and contact details
  5. Upload a clear photo of your National ID (both sides)
  6. Submit — receive TIN by email within 24 hours typically

How to Apply for a TIN — Business/Company

  1. Visit efris.ura.go.ug and select Non-Individual registration
  2. Enter company name exactly as on URSB Certificate of Incorporation
  3. Upload Certificate of Incorporation and Memorandum and Articles of Association
  4. Enter details of directors and their individual TINs
  5. Submit — processing takes 1 to 3 working days
